Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

I'm a recent escapee from Corporate America, trying to recapture my inner artist. To my family I am Mary Ellen; at the office I was Mary E Lavan; socially I'm known as Mary Howe; but now I'm just Mare! Spreading my creative wings in my little pottery studio in Pine, Arizona. A small mountain hamlet on the Mogollon Rim, about 100 miles North of Phoenix - Pine is the perfect place to inspire and nurture the right side of my brain.

I have been playing in mud since I was a little girl. In high school, I had my first pottery class where my dream of becoming an artist started to take root. Throughout the years, I've taken various lessons and workshops in ceramic arts. I am fortunate to have recently apprenticed with gifted potters Carol and Alan Snyder, of Potter's Vision (www.pottersvision.com). I continue to hone my craft through research; experimentation; workshops; and practice, practice, practice!

I am a humble member of The Potters Council of The American Ceramic Society and The Etsy Mud Team.
